The Fluence Spotlight is on Nina Ariff, a lawyer and content creator from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hear how she started her content creator journey unexpectedly, what advice she would give to aspiring content creators, who she would be inviting to dinner and more.

How did you get your start in content creation?

Influenced by iCarly, I began posting actively in 2017 on YouTube. Some time later, a production team discovered me and had me host a cafe hunting web series. Thereafter, I was recommended to audition for Dewi Remaja and was shortlisted as one of the Top 20 finalists. I haven’t slowed down since and the pandemic kinda pushed me further as I ventured into creating TikTok videos as well.

What advice would you give to a content creator starting out?

Persist in your passion, even when it seems too challenging. Currently, I have been given the opportunity to collaborate with brands I never would have imagined, and I am grateful for the journey. Also, staying authentic is important. Balancing my life as an influencer and a lawyer has not only taught me this, but it has also taught me the importance of time management. With dedication and perseverance, you can make it work!

What do you like and dislike about being a content creator?

I love the constant exposure to new people and experiences, it’s always fresh and exciting; and  receiving products from brands. The downside is enduring judgment and constant scrutiny – even during social media breaks. Despite the challenges, creating content is the path I chose and I’m happy with what I do.

You are hosting dinner. Which 3 content creators would you invite?

I might be biased but it has to be my two best friends – Arisa Soraya and Tisya Ong. The third person would be Amelia Henderson who influenced me a lot in terms of her content style. I think this girly dinner would be so fun!

Any brand or content creator you would like to collaborate with?

There are so many creators I would love to collaborate with, but definitely Amelia Henderson. Working with her would honestly be a dream come true. Even thinking about it right now makes me wanna cry!
